If I Should Die Before I Wake: By Julianna Rowe

You made love to me with your lips on mine.

You touched my heart with warm skin each time.

You held me close until I fell asleep each night,

Even when your shoulder hurt and became so tight.

When my leg muscles tightened in terrible pain,

You leapt to my rescue when I cried insane.

And ever so gently, called my name.

We are old now, wrinkled yet the same,

Our minds didn’t change, our bodies lame.

I’m glad you stayed and weathered this life,

No one could say we didn’t beat the strife.

I continue to lay down with you,

To hold you and love you until our due.

I don’t know what I will do when your gone,

And if I do, just sing me our songs.

All the ones you sent me when we first met,

Just know you are the one I loved best.

If before I wake, you should pass away…

You will be in my heart each and every day.
